Institution to Ministry of Acolyte - 4/26/09

Today, I and my 22 fellow Candidates for Ordination to the Order of Deacon were instituted to the Ministry of Acolyte for the Diocese of Harrisburg.  The ceremony, conducted by Bishop Kevin C. Rhoades, was held at the Basilica of the Sacred Heart of Jesus in Conewago, Pa.  It is the oldest stone Catholic chapel in the United States, but it is absolutely gorgeous inside!  The pictures that follow do not do it justice at all.

We were blessed with a beautiful, sunny day, and most of our wives and families were able to join with us in this final liturgical step before hopeful ordination on May 22, 2010.  We still have one class remaining this semester, one final paper to complete, and then we enter our Pastoral Field Education in healthcare ministry at Holy Spirit Hospital in Camp Hill, Pa, during the months of May and June.  After some time off with our families, we then return to begin our final year of study and formation in September 2009.

I hope you enjoy the photos below!

Thanks Sue! Your prayers and support are very important to me! Don't make any plans for 5/22/2010 as we have been told we will be able to invite 25 people to the Ordination Mass. I will then serve as Deacon the next day for the first time. (God willing of course!)
